VERSE 1
Am/C Bb/D
Time expands and contracts
F/C Dm
Like a rusty accordion
Am/E Bb/F
Until I'm old and wrinkled
F/C C
Like a pruny Floridian
Bb F
Step backwards though my footprints
Bb F
Straighten the picture on the wall
Eb Bb/D
Comb the ends of the rug
Eb/Bb F/C
Check the phone in case you called
Gm Gm/F
Clean the wall before I pound it
Dm (trans. Dm/E) F
Leave it all the way I found it
REFRAIN
Eb Bb
And tie up all the loose ends (rep.)
Eb Bb F
Tie up all the loose ends
VERSE 2
Been unnoticed so long
Feel like a Gideon
Now I'm trapped in the fire
Like a branch Davidian
I'm behind a 2-way mirror
Like a shoplifter at Walgreens
You're just checking your lipstick
But it looks like your blowing kisses to me
You don't know me like you think you do
I'll straighten up when I'm all through
REFRAIN
And tie up all the loose ends
Tie up all the loose ends
BRIDGE
Dm Bb F (rep.)
Dm Dm/Bb Bb/F F
There's no such thing as a venial sin
Bb F C
I don't know where to stop, where to begin
Dm Dm/Bb Bb/F F
So underestimate the state I'm in
Bb F C
They'll be searching for your next of kin
Nick Piunti's third album confirms the idiosyncratic talent of this musician who keeps churning out fantastic power-pop tunes that would rejoice even the most jaded pop-rock fan, whether young or old, if they knew about the existence of 'Beyond the Static'. POPPHIL
For me and my crusty, ringing ears, the tribute album lost it's charm long ago. But once in a while, there's still one that hits it outta the park. When the subject is as great as SLOAN, it's a can't lose proposition. I've never heard the majority of the acts here (tho I'm a big fan of Fireking), but damned if I hear a duff track on this set. If you're already a fan of the Halifax Heroes don't think twice, nab this 31 track monster! Another winner from Futureman. Robbiecube
Don't believe the name of their latest album; jangle-pop hooks and stacked grunge guitars are two of the Bay Area band's greatest gifts. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 16, 2023
Everything that Bryan Scary touches is musical gold... at first when he branched out from the Shredding Tears to do Evil Arrows I was heartbroken... but these songs are full of the solid power-pop brilliance that his earlier work exhibited, if a bit more guitar-driven. Wonderful stuff! Matthew Laurence
